Our Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) can be summed up in a single word: smart. Active Stability Control‡

The standard Active Stability Control (ASC) system constantly monitors traction between the tires and the road. On detecting slippage or a loss of control, ASC alerts the control unit, which applies the brakes on individual wheels to help keep the vehicle moving in your intended direction.

Superior Braking & Control Systems

The Anti-lock Braking System (ABD) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)‡ helps keep you in control—no matter what the road brings. EBD adds intelligent controls that can shift the braking force between the front and rear wheels on an instant-by-instant basis. Anti-Theft Alarm System

The Lancer Sportback is equipped with an integrated anti-theft alarm system that features an "immobilizer" security key. Each key carries an embedded wireless tag with a unique code for the engine control unit. If the engine doesn't recognize the wireless key, it won't start. And that's just one of many deterrents in this world-class integrated anti-theft system.

Seven Standard Airbags**

Innovation shouldn’t only come under the hood. In addition to six airbags that help protect the front and sides of your passengers, the Lancer Sportback adds a seventh under the driver’s dash, designed to help stabilize your lower legs and body in certain types of frontal collisions.

** Airbags are part of a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). To decrease the risk of injury from a deploying airbag, always wear your seatbelt, sit upright in the middle of the seat and do not lean against the door.
